Bee Queen by kirawinter Bee Queen by kirawinter
Now I know that I know nothing about non-cosplay photo.
This weekend my friend Sasha ask me took some portrait photos, well, I did it, but I wasnt sure about what am I doing at all. Haha, this is so strange, but cosplay photography in my opinion absolutely different from emotive/fashion etc.
Now I want to take more non-cosplay photos, because I want to learn more about photography :3

at first, i thought it was a painting with a real bee on it. When I look closer, the girl is real, and the bee looks CG-ish. O.o

But oh well, its awesome and looks good over-all~

The Japanese Giant Hornet kills ~40 people a year, so my guess is that one is fake or dead. Hopefully...

Beautiful work! I love the brightness of the bee against the rest of the softer colors.

I have the same issue now because I also need fashion shoots for myself (so I can sell my skills - you need to show you can do the exact client's work right).

It helps a lot to observe. Take some good fashion shoots, and observe how things are done. What are the poses? What part of body shown? How they choose the pics for the sets? Recently I was checking out some photographer and I wrote a 1.5 long list of notes about how he renders model, background, etc.

Here I see very strange focus, boring light straight in face, that removes any depth, uncontrolled hightlights (neck is way brighter), and the wasp is more like an obscuration to her beautiful lips. She's doing good as a model, since she's not so boring. Also you need to do some of formal art education to learn what means what in image. Cosplay pics are always bright, contrast, attractive - but people will fav everything with Miku, for example, regardless of its actaul quality.

There are five things in a good shoot, citing some article:"Fashion photoshoots require 5 major components and most average photographers fall short in at least 1 of these areas. The model, lighting, location or set, outfit, and the post production must all be world class for the final picture to be world class"

And just do not try to mimic people, there is already a lot of similar boring portraiture

Wow, this is absolutely awesome! The whole composing is very nice.

My only point of critique is, that I would like it better, if the face of the model is more sharp OR (if this is an artistic and stylistic device) even more blurred.
