The color scheme is notable too. If the picture had just been Hatsune Miku in a barren field, it would have been boring. The red string, which pops against the cyan of Hatsune Miku, adds more depth to the picture. It makes the barren, plain background almost fitting.
The background does not have to be super colorful and exciting. In fact, I think that having a more interesting background in this picture would have taken away from it. It would have distracted us from the focus of the picture. Giving us nothing to look at in the background forces us to notice the pure artistic beauty in the foreground, a detail that would be easy to miss if you had chosen an exciting and colorful background.
Overall, this is one of my favorite pieces of photography that I have seen on this site so far. I am very impressed with this. I am having trouble finding something wrong with it, but the point of a critique is to help you improve, not to praise you. I almost feel like this critique is a failure because it cannot help you improve. Sorry, but great job!
I think that the approach taken to represent the meaning of the song of which inspired this is brilliant. I think the red string that's included in this shot could represent the entrapment one feels when in the situation the song's about, also, as the first line of the song states: 'now there's no where to go in the heart of this love'. The colours the model in this shot is wearing and the general dull background could also be linked to the lyrics of 'Love is War', and I think that the colours compliment each other in some ways, whilst the model's the main focus of the shot and stands out somewhat against the dreary scenery. I also love the dramatic sweep of Miku's hair; I think it definitely annunciates the dramatic of the original movie video and the general message being portrayed here, I think it's a lovely effect.
I can say that I've been through some sort of struggle when it comes to love and I can definitely relate to this song, I'm guessing a lot of other people can too, and I love the representation and understanding that's been shown in this photos. Absolutely amazing!
